Acquaintance party

A an acquaintance party is a college party, usually held at the beginning of the semester, where students have the opportunity to meet each other.

Acquaintance parties may be organized according to major/school, dormitory, Greek house, sports or clubs, or for their entire class. For example, a college may host an acquaintance party for the entire freshman class at the beginning of the year. Or the engineering department may host an acquaintance party for new engineering majors.
